Peter Mai a.k.a Lazytangent
Texas-based Music Educator turned Software Engineer
As a former music educator, I have experience both teaching and performing in small to large groups. I enjoy making music and collaborating on both the direction of our performances and the nuances in our ideas. Now as a software engineer with skills in Python and JavaScript, I've gotten to collaborate with fellow developers during pair programming sessions and have gotten to create a few projects of my own, some based on the PostgreSQL-Express-Node-React stack and some on the PostgreSQL-Flask-React stack.
A social media site for connecting with other Mechanical Keyboard enthusiasts.
Built on a React-Redux frontend and a Flask-PostgreSQL backend, Qwerkey is the most recent project I have worked on. It features the creation, reading, updating, and deletion of posts, comments, and retailer reviews. Other features include a search, upvotes and downvotes on comments and posts, and implementation of React-Leaflet.
A clone of KickStarter and GoFundMe to help get money to those that need it the most.
JumpStart takes inspiration from KickStarter and GoFundMe and was created on a React-Redux frontend and a Flask-PostgreSQL backend. Its features include the creation, reading, updating, and deletion of Projects and Donations along with a search.
A clone of Untappd to help you find more drinks.
A solo fullstack clone of Untappd built on a React-Redux frontend with an Express.js-PostgreSQL backend. Its features include the creation, reading, updating, and deletion of Posts and Drink Reviews along with a search and profile pages.
A clone of the popular To-Do application, Remember the Milk, with an RPG twist.
Constructed with Express.js with Pug templates, QuestTrackr shows off our group's ability to create a fullstack application without a dedicated frontend library or framework. Its features include the creation, reading, updating, and deletion of quests, a dynamic XP bar, and fully functioning search.
I enjoy working in teams and alongside my team members.
I enjoy learning and am always ready to try something new.
I prefer to get my hands dirty when trying something for the first time to really find out how it works.
I have gotten really good at debugging issues, knowing what to look for.
I like making clear goals from the start and making sure I hit all the marks on the way to the end goal.
I enjoy helping people, whether that's by helping them understand a concept or just helping them accomplish a goal.
